Illinois Wesleyan falls at North Park

CHICAGO–The Illinois Wesleyan men's basketball team dropped their second straight game on Saturday night with a 85-83 loss at North Park. The loss dropped Wesleyan out of first place in the CCIW standings, one game behind Augustana.

North Park was able to hold off a late Wesleyan charge by sinking 24 of 27 free throws in the second half. North Park led by as many as 10 with under three minutes to play.

Jordan Robinson scored a game 28 points for North Park, while Juwan Henry added 24 for the Vikings. Bryce Dolan led the Titans with 23 points on 7 of 9 shooting from deep.

The Titans led 40-38 at halftime behind 12 points from Dolan and 10 from Mike Marietti, but North Park dominated the boards in the second half. The Vikings out-rebounded Wesleyan 22-11 in the second half and 42-27 for the game. An offensive rebound with one second remaining sealed the win for the Vikings.

The Titans (17-7, 9-4) will take a week off before hosting Elmhurst in their regular season finale next Saturday at the Shirk Center. IWU will need a win and an Augustana loss versus Wheaton to win a share of the conference title.

The Illinois Wesleyan women's team defeated North Park, 72-68. Kasey Reaber was one of four Titans in double figures with a game-high 22 points. Reaber also had 9 rebounds and 7 assists.  Molly McGraw added 18 points on 4 of 7 shooting from behind the arc. The win moves IWU to 10-14 on the season and 4-9 in CCIW play.
