Illinois Wesleyan dedicates Dennie Bridges Court, defeats Elmhurst

BLOOMINGTON – Dennie Bridges' final game at Shirk Center as Illinois Wesleyan's athletic director ended the way so many have over his more than half century with the university – a decisive Titan victory. 

On a night when IWU forrmally dedicated Dennie Bridges Court, the Titans slammed Elmhurst, 96-66, at Shirk Center. 

The Titans were led by two seniors in getting the Senior Night win. Pat Sodemann connected for 18 points. Dylan Ovrestreet added 15 points with eight assists. 

Mike Marietti posted 15 points and eight eight rebounds. 

IWU overcame a slow start, missing 10 of their first 12 field goal attemps, to jump out to a 41-28 halftime lead. The Bluejays opened with four straight points in the second half, before the Titans reeled off eight straight to resume command. 

Wesleyan (18-7) secures the number two seed in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Tournament with a 10-4 league record. IWU will rematch Elmhurst in the semifinals on Friday at host Augustana.

Titan women

The Titan women lost to Elmhurst 82-75. Freshman Molly McGraw scored 26. IWU ends its season at 10-15, 4-10 in the CCIW.
