WJBC will bring you a basketball tripleheader on Friday as a prelude to March Madness.

Illinois Wesleyan opens the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin tournament against Elmhurst. The Titans likely need at least one win to maintain any hope of securing an NCAA Tournament bid.

The Central Catholic Saints girls are back in the state finals for the third time in six years. CCHS will play Kankakee-Bishop McNamara in the Class 2A semifinals at Doug Collins Court at Redbird Arena. WJBC will have the call with Larry Duling and Eric Lapan. Tip off is set for 6:30 p.m.

The Illinois State women play at Loyola. Zach Dietmeier and China Antoine will have the call. It will begin on WJBC.com only and will take the air on 1230 AM after the Central Catholic game. With three weekends already gone in the 2015 campaign, Illinois State softball is back on the road with five games this weekend in College Station, Texas, on the campus of Texas A&M University.

The Redbirds enter the weekend with a 6-9 record and have gone 2-3 in all three weekends this season. The five-game slate begins with a 10 a.m. first pitch against UTSA. ISU will play the hosts Texas A&M at 5:15 p.m.

The Illinois State baseball team will travel to Nashville, Tennessee, for a three-game series with 2014 College World Series champion Vanderbilt, beginning Friday. Vanderbilt is currently ranked as the No. 1 team in the country by three of the five major national polls.  Gametime Friday is at 4.

African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
