CLINTON – A bill introduced in the Illinois Legislature could help save jobs at the Clinton nuclear power plant and nuclear power plants in Byron and Cordova. The plants have not been profitable for parent company Exelon. Clinton nuclear power plant spokesman Brett Nauman says the bill will help keep the plants up and running.
"If you lose the zero carbon emissions that our plants our providing, it's going to be tough for Illinois,” said Nauman. “There have been EPA rules that have been proposed that will require Illinois to cut it’s carbon emissions by 2030.”
The bill would add two percent to Ameren Illinois electricity bills.
