Redbird women’s hoops, softball opener on WJBC

The Illinois State women’s basketball team looks to continue its ascent of the Missouri Valley Conference standings with games against the MVC’s first- and second-place teams this weekend on Doug Collins Court at Redbird Arena.

After climbing to seventh place in the league standings after wins in three of their past five games, the Redbirds host league-leading Drake tonight and second-place Northern Iowa on Sunday.

Zach Dietmeier and Taylor Morano will have the play-by-play starting at 7 p.m. on WJBC 1230 AM. WJBC.com and the WJBC app.

Sportstalk will air before the game at 6 with Austin Duncan.

The Illinois State softball team begins a busy first two months of the 2016 season at South Florida this weekend with five games. The Redbirds open the season against No. 2 Michigan and No. 1 Florida on Friday, before facing Virginia Tech, South Florida and South Carolina on Saturday and Sunday.

Friday’s games can he heard 10:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on WJBC.com.

The Bloomington Thunder opens a four-game homestand with the first of back-to-back games against the Green Bay Gamblers. Listen live on WJBC.com.
