NORMAL – The Normal CornBelters have extend an opportunity to Adam LaRoche to be a part the Normal CornBelters staff for 2016.
LaRoche would act as the team’s 3rd base, 1st base, or hitting coach for the season. His son, Drake, will also have a position within the organization for all 48 home games this season, in addition to full participation in team activities.
“As a family-oriented organization, we would be more than excited to welcome Adam and Drake to be a part of our team for the upcoming season,” stated CornBelters’ Manager Brooks Carey.
The reigning Frontier League West Division Champions will kick-off the 2016 campaign on Friday, May 13 versus the Joliet Slammers. Entering the organization’s seventh season, the team has posted back-to-back winning seasons, including a record high in wins for 2015 (61).
In the past couple years, the CornBelters have sold six contracts to major league organizations including the Arizona Diamondbacks, Atlanta Braves, Chicago Cubs, Miami Marlins, Pittsburgh Pirates, and the San Diego Padres. The experience from the LaRoche family, along with their passion and dedication to the game of baseball, will serve as a crucial role in the development of the young players as they pursue their professional dreams.
“We are professional baseball at its purest; we are here to make dreams come true and have fun doing it,” said Assistant General Manager Mike Petrini.
