BLOOMINGTON – Social media may be the culprit as rumors continue to circulate regarding alleged voting problems during the Illinois Primary at the Bone Student Center.
McLean County Clerk Kathy Michael says long lines were the only true inconvenience for voters.
“My younger staff was even shocked and they’re more used to social media and they go, ‘why would they say that?’,” asked Michael. “I said that’s the way of the world now so get a tough skin and trust but verify and as long as you do a good job you’ll take the hits for a day or two, but the truth comes out.”
At least one Illinois State University student is expected to address the county finance committee about alleged voting problems at the Bone Student Center in Normal.
Michael says there were lots of eyes on the election and any rumors of election problems were spread through social media. She says those rumors had no validity.
