Ford County police say they’re making progress in the investigation into a dog found tied up and injured in rural Sibley.
Police received the call a week ago about the mixed-breed dog found tied to a bridge so that he could barely reach the ground. The dog was reportedly found with electrical tape around his mouth and an apparent gunshot wound to his jaw.
Ford County Sheriff Mark Doran says investigators have suspects, but adds that misinformation and calls for quick justice on social media and messages he’s received detract from the investigation.
“We obviously have to get the right person,” Doran said. “and that’s no guarantee that it’s the owner of the dog. Obviously, they haven’t been ruled out, but we really have to wait and see where the evidence leads us. It’s not like CSI where they solve a triple murder in 45 minutes. It just doesn’t work that way.”
Doran says he’s received reports that the dog named Bear is recovering.
