Thomas A. Kauffman, 87, of Chenoa, passed away at 2:16 am, Friday, May 6, 2016 at Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community, Chenoa.
His funeral service will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa; with Father Carl LoPresti officiating. Interment will follow in Chenoa Township Cemetery, Chenoa with military rites conducted by the Chenoa VFW and American Legion posts.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., Tuesday prior to her service also at the funeral home in Chenoa. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be directed to Alzheimer’s Association.
Tom was born February 5, 1929 in Chenoa; the son of John and Harriet (Tacey) Kauffman. He married Wanda Stivers on June 17, 1950 in Chenoa. His wife preceded him in death July 19, 2015. His parents, five brothers and one sister also preceded him in death.
Survivors include two children, Richard (Maria) Kauffman of Winthrop, Maine; Sheila (Joe) Johns of Saunemin, Ill.; one sister, Delores Bailey of Palatine, Ill.; one brother, Robert Kauffman of Decatur, Ga.; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Tom and his wife Wanda recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. They loved to dance and spend time with their grandchildren. He served our country in the US Navy and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Chenoa.
