BLOOMINGTON – Bloomington police arrested two people after responding early Monday morning to a report of shots fired and a large fight.
Police said officers were called to the 2200 block of Rainbow Avenue just before 3 a.m., where they found a “chaotic scene” with numerous people yelling and a vehicle leaving at a high speed.
Police said, rather than stopping for police, the vehicle went over a curb, through the grass, and into an apartment building parking lot. Police arrested Joseph B. Brown, 24, of Bloomington and Destiney M.J. Bates, 23, who is a homeless woman.
Brown is being charged with Fleeing/Attempt to Elude and Reckless Driving. Bates was arrested for Obstructing Identification and an active McLean County Warrant for Aggravated Battery/Public Place.
Police found two 18-year-old females in the area with minor injuries, but no victims were found with gunshot wounds. The investigation is ongoing.
