Koehler think all members of the legislature share the blame

SPRINGFIELD – The deadline has passed, but the work continues.

Illinois Democratic State Senator Dave Koehler of Peoria said pointing fingers will only delay the budget process in Springfield.

Republican Governor Bruce Rauner said Tuesday the Democrats failed the people of Illinois. Koehler says every member of the State Legislature failed.

“I think that is what is needed more that anything is for our working groups to be empowered by the four caucuses and to have the Governor’s staff to be involved in those to put together especially a K through 12 budget, a higher education budget, and a social service budget,” said Koehler.

Koehler says those specific issues will have to bring both sides together.
