SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois House won’t be meeting Wednesday in Springfield.
For the second straight week, House Speaker Michael Madigan has canceled the planned session.
A Madigan statement indicated legislative “working groups” are still meeting to discuss a solution to the yearlong budget stalemate. Madigan said both House and Senate members will meet again Tuesday for bipartisan talks on business friendly reforms sought by Gov. Bruce Rauner.
Democrats said a multibillion-dollar deficit is most important and should be controlled first with spending cuts and a tax increase.
