BLOOMINGTON – Eight individuals and the Illinois Wesleyan men’s basketball team have been recognized for academic achievement by The National Association of Basketball Coaches.
The Titans named to the 2015-16 NABC Honors Court were last year’s seniors Ryan Coyle (business-finance), Bryce Dolan (business-finance), Rob Mahlke (business-finance), Mike Marietti (business administration), Brian Nelms (economics and marketing) and Joel Pennington (accounting), along with juniors Austin Amann (business administration) and Trevor Seibring (business administration).
The 2015-16 NABC Honors Court recognized student-athletes from more than 350 colleges and universities who excelled in academics during the past season and had a cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 or higher at the end of the 2015-16 academic year. Juniors and seniors who were on the varsity team were eligible.
As a team, Illinois Wesleyan is one of 132 colleges and universities across all divisions to be chosen for the fourth annual Team Academic Excellence Awards. The awards recognize outstanding academic achievement by a team with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better for 2015-16.
In order to earn a NABC Team Academic Excellence Award, institutions in all NCAA and NAIA divisions must count the GPAs of all men’s student-athletes who competed during the 2015-16 season.
