Daniel Edward Acklin, 54, Bloomington died at home surrounded by loved ones at 10:50 p.m., April 21.
A Celebration of Life Service will be at 6:00 p.m., Saturday at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington with Rev. Bruce Williamson officiating. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m., the day of the service at the memorial home. Inurnment will be private at East Lawn Memorial Gardens, Bloomington.

Dan was born Nov. 24, 1960 at St. Louis a son of Thomas and Betty Gustafson Acklin.
Survivors include his daughter, Jordan Acklin, Bloomington; son, Jared Acklin (fiancé, Charesa Ballance), Bloomington; grandson, Braxton Ballance; one brother Douglas (Kathy) Acklin, Bloomington, niece Heather (Todd) Masley and great niece Addysen.
His parents and his sister, Donna Acklin, precede him in death.
Dan attended Eastview Christian Church, Normal and was a long time member of Carpenters Local 63, Bloomington. He worked in the building construction trades for 30 years, including many years as a building construction estimator with Associated Constructors in Bloomington.
He enjoyed the shooting sports and occasionally competed in local handgun and shotgun competitions.
Dan’s greatest joy on earth was his two children and his family. He loved them dearly and cared for them well. His family and friends will remember him for being entirely selfless and for always being there to help anyone in need. He fought a courageous battle with cancer for nearly eight years to share more time with the family he loved so.
