WASHINGTON – Former U.S. Rep. Aaron Schock will have to pay for requesting a campaign contribution that exceeds federal election rules.
Documents show the Peoria Republican has agreed to pay a $10,000 fine to the Federal Election Commission. Schock reportedly asked former Virginia congressman Eric Cantor for a $25,000 gift to help congressman Adam Kinzinger. The limit for such a request is $5,000.
Schock resigned last year after amid questions about how he was spending campaign money, including the redecorating of his office in the style of the TV program ‘Downton Abbey.’
