BLOOMINGTON – Gov. Bruce Rauner has poured millions of dollars into state legislative races in hopes of eliminating the Democrats supermajority.
State Rep. Dan Brady, R-Bloomington, who has been campaigning in his role as assistant minority leader, told WJBC’s Scott Laughlin the GOP needs to take just one seat held by Democrats to eliminate that supermajority in the House.

“We’ve got at least three if not four tier one (House) races we are focusing in on,” Brady said.
The only Republican legislator in the Chicago area, House veteran Michael McAuliffe, is trying to hold on to his seat and the GOP has spent nearly $2 million in advertising to try to save that seat.
Like many Illinois legislators, Brady is running unopposed. Only 48 of the 118 Illinois House seats will be contested on Nov. 8.
Connect Transit
Brady said he doesn’t foresee Connect Transit having to shut down its service as bus company officials have warned. Connect Transit has scheduled a public hearing Thursday to explain how state funding problems are putting their bus service in jeopardy. Brady said the state money will get there eventually.
“Some of the information that came out may have been a little questionable from the standpoint meaning that I don’t know on the dollar side of things, no one ever said it was not going to be there,” Brady said. “It just may be something that’s a delayed situation.”
Brady added he will be the forum at the Normal Town Council chambers from 6 to 8 p.m.
