SPRINGFIELD – Gov. Bruce Rauner is getting set to give another budget address but every year he has done so the state has gone without a comprehensive state spending plan.

The state Senate is still working on a broad compromise that would strive to balance the state budget.

Rauner said as he prepares for the Wednesday speech he is appreciative of the work the Senate has done.

“There are a lot of ideas being discussed, many proposals on the table, as this point I don’t think its appropriate to weigh in with specific comments on pieces,” Rauner said. “I do want to thank the senators for working to hard on a balanced budget with compromises to make structural changes.”

Rauner has said little about what his message will be on the during his budget address. Illinois is approaching two years without a complete spending plan.

WJBC will carry the address live at noon.

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
