WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin met with Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch for some 40 minutes this week.

While Durbin has expressed opposition to multiple nominees for President Donald Trump’s cabinet, for him the jury is still out on his vote on the Senate Judiciary Committee.

“I wouldn’t make any commitment at this point I really want to sit through the hearing and hear his answers to questions,” Durbin said. “He is learned, he is sincere and made a positive impression.”

Durbin said he wants to ensure that Gorsuch would be an independent check on the Executive Branch.

“When it comes to some fundamental issues, issues relating to freedom of religions, issues relations to Citizens United and the like, I have some basic differences with his approach.”

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
