BLOOMINGTON – What was a five person race for Mayor of Bloomington is now two, after incumbent Tari Renner and Kevin Lower received the most votes in Tuesday’s primary.

Renner, who’s seeking his second term, received 48 percent of the vote.
“To the people whose vote I did not earn, I’m going to take spend the next five weeks to try to do that, to explain why I think (the city) has made progress,” Renner said.
Lower, the current alderman for Ward 1, had about 19 percent.
“It takes a lot of money to do this and so it’s been an investment,” Lower said. “It’s been an investment in a lot of folks’ time, not just mine and it’s difficult on families”.
As for the other three candidates in the primary: Ian Bayne had 14 percent of the vote, Robert Fike had 10 percent and Diana Hauman had about 8 percent.
Voter turnout was 15 percent.
The general election is scheduled for April 4.
