SPRINGFIELD – State Rep. Tom Bennett (R-Pontiac) is scratching his head over the kinds of bills being proposed in Springfield, as Illinois continues to operate without a budget.

Bennett pointed out a particular resolution which would make March “Ask Your Boss for a Raise Month.”

“What is this really going to help do? In the meantime we don’t have a budget,” said Bennett. “It took time to do, for this resolution, the preparation, the committee discussion, the floor discussion and all for this.”

Bennett said this points to the type of culture they’re dealing with in Springfield. He doesn’t see how this bill is helping move anything along.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
