BLOOMINGTON – There’s worry cuts in the Trump administration’s proposed federal budget could affect many groups and organizations, but at least one local group isn’t worried.
Peace Meal senior nutrition program’s Region 3 Supervisor Emelia Suess said their sponsor, Sarah Bush Lincoln, has already said they’ll be supportive no matter what.
“We are thankful for them and we are thankful for all of our clients that do do the donation,” said Suess. “They keep us going, and local donations, as well. Our community, we couldn’t do it without them. We really appreciate all donations that come from the community.”
Suess added Peace Meal also receives funding from the Illinois Department of Aging.
Suess explained Peace Meal provides meals to citizens over the age of 60 in 14 counties in Illinois. Suess said her office in Bloomington delivers meals to 200 seniors just in Bloomington-Normal.
