WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., plans to host a town hall meeting Friday at Illinois Wesleyan University.
Durbin posted a message on his Facebook page indicating the town hall will begin at 5:30 p.m. at Westbrook Auditorium. Doors will open at 4:45 p.m. Durbin’s office asks attendees to register online as space is limited.
No signs are permitted.
Activist groups have staged protests in recent weeks calling on U.S. Reps. Rodney Davis and Darin LaHood to hold town hall meetings to address their questions about the proposed changes to the Affordable Care Act and other issues. They’ve only hosted town halls by telephone so far.
Durbin has criticized Republican efforts to change Obamacare. A vote on a replacement could come as early as Thursday.
