CHICAGO – Billionaire entrepeneur J.B. Pritzker has announced his candidacy for the Democratic nomination for Illinois governor.
Pritzker is 52 and the managing partner and co-founder of private investment firm Pritzker Group, which operates service and industrial companies and invests in digital technology.
“Illinois families are ready for a progressive leader who will stand up for the values that define our state,” Pritzker said during his announcement on Thursday in Chicago. “We can’t afford another four years of Bruce Rauner and we need an independent fighter who will take on Donald Trump. This is a time to think big, fight hard, and make real progress for our state. As your next Governor, I will fight every day to get Illinois back on track.”
Pritzker announced his bid at a park facility on Chicago’s South Side.
