BLOOMINGTON – The Bloomington-Normal YMCA hopes to raise $200,000 this year through its Strong Kids Campaign.
The annual fundraiser began this morning with a kickoff breakfast. YMCA executive director B.J. Wilken says contributions go toward scholarships for kids to participate in programs at the Y.
“Last year, we helped 2,360 individuals and we forgave $204,000 towards that end of fulfilling our mission,” Wilken said.
According to Wilken, the Strong Kids Campaign funds about 30-percent of the Y’s annual operating budget.
