Body of missing kayaker recovered

STREATOR – Rescue crews have recovered the body Monday of a 22-year-old Streator man who went missing after falling out of a kayak in the Vermillion River.

The News Tribune reports Ottawa River Rescue found the body of Jake Rodriguez on Monday afternoon. He was not wearing a life jacket though searchers did find a life jacket earlier during their search.

Rodriguez was kayaking with two friends when he fell out of the kayak near Streator on Saturday afternoon.

The Hudson Dive team had joined nearly a dozen other agencies and hundreds of volunteers in assisting the search.
