Obituary: Mason

Chatsworth- Thelma I. Mason, 86, of Chatsworth, IL passed away at 7:52 am on Monday, April 17, 2017 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm on Friday, April 21, 2017 at Calvert & Martin Funeral Home in Chatsworth, IL with Rev. Roosevelt Smith officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to burial at the funeral home. Burial will follow services at Chatsworth Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the family or a charity of the donor’s choice.

Thelma was born December 29, 1930 in Beaver Township in Iroquois County, Illinois a daughter of Randalph and Eva (Dusenberry) Lade. She married Robert E. Mason on April 4, 1980. He passed away on September 9, 2004.

She is survived by her three daughters: Leona Ann Gibson, Debra Bryant, and Donna (Richard) Runyon all of Chatsworth, IL; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren; three siblings: Donald (Carolyn) Lade of Chatsworth, IL, Betty White of Sheldon, IL, and Charles Lade of Pontiac, IL. Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings: Leona Stow, Merle Lade, Dorothy Lee, Louise York, and Gerald Lade; and two great-great grandsons.

Thelma worked for many years at the Pontiac Chair Factory doing various jobs there before her retirement.

She was a die-hard Cubs fan, avid bird watcher, and enjoyed crocheting. Thelma was a loving mom, grandma, great grandma, great-great grandma, sister, aunt, and friend who will be greatly missed.
