BLOOMINGTON – Illinois Wesleyan University has looked to another private, liberal arts school to find its next provost. IWU announced Wednesday it has hired Mark Brodl (BRO-duhl), who has been Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs: Budget and Research at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas.
Brodl came to Trinity as a biology professor in 2001, and has remained active in teaching and research after becoming an administrator in 2017.
Brodl has Illinois roots. He earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from Knox College in Galesburg, received his master’s in plant biology from the University of Illinois in Urbana, and a Ph.D in the same subject from Washington University in St. Louis.
Brodl starts his new job July 17th. He replaces current IWU Provost Jonathan Green, who’s about to become president of Susquehanna University in Pennsylvania.
