FORT COLLINS, Colo. – After receiving a bid to the NISC, Illinois State has been selected to host a regional round of the National Invitational Softball Tournament Tuesday through Thursday at Marian Kneer Stadium.
“We are very excited to be in the NISC and to be hosting,” head coach Melinda Fischer said. “I’m so glad to see the resurgence of this tournament and I’m happy it will be here. We’re very appreciative of our administration to allow us to host this week.”
Illinois State will host IUPUI, Michigan State and Murray State in a double-elimination tournament beginning on Tuesday. As regular season Missouri Valley Conference champions, the Redbirds earned an automatic bid to the tournament.
The Redbirds will begin the tournament against IUPUI at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, after Michigan State and Missouri State face off at 4 p.m. to begin the day. Wednesday’s game times are 1 p.m., 4 p.m., and 7 p.m. The tournament will conclude on Thursday at noon with if-necessary game at 3 p.m.
