Rauner picks McLean County public defender for state justice panel

SPRINGFIELD – Gov. Bruce Rauner has named McLean County’s public defender to the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority.

In her role as public defender, Carla Barnes of Normal represents indigent clients in McLean County Court. Barnes is a former assistant state’s attorney prosecuting traffic and D-U-I cases.

Barnes earned her bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University, and she attended The John Marshall Law School.
