New job creation head installed at Intersect Illinois

SPRINGFIELD – The state’s non-profit job creation group, Intersect Illinois has a new leader.

Gov. Bruce Rauner announced Mark Peterson, who worked in job development and recruitment in Rochester, New York as its new CEO. Peterson worked in job development and recruitment in Rochester New York.

Rauner said Intersect has helped secure 11,000 new jobs to be created in the state. Peterson said focus will be placed on finding employers of all sizes but cultivating start up culture and helping small businesses grow is among the most important thing they can do.

“They are the fastest growing, they the great potential to add news jobs,” Peterson said. “So we will be focusing on that while we are tracking news businesses. This is a three-legged stool, sometimes a four-legged stool. You’ve got to be playing all of those parts.”

The former CEO of Intersect Illinois Jim Schultz will be staying on as a board member of the organization.
