Marguerite A. “Peg” Deutsch, 93, of Bloomington, passed away at 9:55 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at her home.

A Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Monday, June 19, 2017 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Bloomington with Rev. Matthew Deptula officiating. Inurnment will be in East Lawn Mausoleum, Bloomington. The family will receive friends from 10 – 11 a.m., Monday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Holy Trinity Church or the Community Cancer Center.

Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington is assisting the family with arrangements.

Peg was born February 28, 1924 in Providence, RI, the daughter of James Francis and Johanna Kathleen Cummings McKenna. She married Michael F. Deutsch on February 28, 1945 in Providence, Rhode Island. He died on July 4, 1991.

She is survived by her children, Carolyn Deutsch of Normal, Jim (Sarah) Deutsch of Bloomington, Judy (J. Michael) Rubenacker of Champaign, Betsy (Robert) Kennedy of Phoenix, AZ and Paula (Neil) Fritze of Galesburg, MI; fourteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; and a special friend and companion, Dewey Gronau of Bloomington.

She was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.

Peg worked in the Speech and Hearing Department at Illinois State University for 25 years. She was a devout Catholic and member of Holy Trinity Church in Bloomington.

Peg was an avid bridge player, having achieved life master status; was a world traveler and enjoyed her gardens.

Peg always lived life to the fullest. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile and the joy she brought to those she touched.

Family was most important to Peg and she was always there for them. Her family will dearly miss her, but remember her as being a wonderful mother, grandmother and a strong and gracious lady.
