Old U.S. 66 restructuring and closure

FUNKS GROVE – Illinois Department of Transportation officials announced, weather permitting, work will begin June 15 for the reconstruction of the structure carrying Old U.S. 66 over Timber Creek, which is 4.5 miles north of U.S. 136 near Funks Grove.

Old U.S. 66 will be closed to through traffic at this location while construction is on-going. A marked detour will be in place utilizing County Highway 34, Interstate 55 and U.S. 136.

This project will include complete removal and replacement of the existing structure, associated earthwork and pavement replacement. The estimated completion date is October 31.

The contractor for the $1.3 million project is Stark Excavating.
