Derrick Lane, 49, of Bloomington, passed away at 9:58 p.m. on June 5 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal.
Cremation rites have been accorded. His memorial service will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Bloomington with Rev. Frank L. McSwain, Sr. officiating. Visitation will be from 12 p.m noon until the start of service on Thursday at the church. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington is assisting the family with arrangements.

Derrick was born on Nov. 2, 1965 in Chicago, a son of Betty (Lane) Criddell
Surviving is his mother, Betty Criddell of Bloomington; siblings, Edward (Monica) Lane of Oak Park, Brett Lane, Dwight Lane, LaRoyce (Edwina) Lane, Ileana Lane, Glynda Lane, Antonett Criddell and Julius Criddell, all of Bloomington; a special niece, Bert (Nicky) Benson of Bloomington; and a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Dwane.
Derrick worked as a cook for many years.
He was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Bloomington where he served as an usher and on the usher board.

William Karle
William E. Karle, 73, of Hudson, passed away at 2:30 p.m. June 13 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, Normal.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Trinity Church, Bloomington, with Rev. R. Anthony Lee officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Normal. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
He was born March 7, 1942 in Alexandria, Minnesota, a son of Clifford and Malinda Jerome Karle. He married Marjorie Kobza on Nov. 28, 1969 in Lincoln, Nebraska, and she survives in Hudson.
Also surviving are three children, Erik Karle of Crescent City, Calif., Sarah (Kenneth) Phipps of Norris, Ill. and Matthew Karle of Hudson; one grandson, William Phipps; one brother, David (Sandra) Karle of Crosby, Minn.; many loving nieces and nephews; and his beloved therapy dog, Luigi.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Bill served in the U.S. Navy as well as with the Merchant Marines. He retired from State Farm Insurance Companies after 35 years of employment. After his retirement, Bill enjoyed driving for Enterprise, his involvement in Karing Partners, a therapy-dog program, as well as the time he spent spoiling his grandson. He served as a volunteer on the Hudson Fire Department for 30 years.
