Boddie’s big night fuels NCHS win over intercity rivals

NORMAL – Daylen Boddie went the distance on his first two rushes of the game, finishing with 147 yards and three touchdowns in Normal Community’s 54-30 trahsing of Bloomington Friday at Ironmen Field.

The junior quarterback also threw for two scores, both to Varshaun Dixon, in Boddie’s third career start.

NCHS (2-0) built a 40-12 halftime lead and put the game in running clock mode after Bodie’s third rushcing touchdown of the night with 9:26 to go in the third quarter.

Bloomington (1-1) quarterback Colton Sandage threw for two touchdowns and rushed for two scores, but suffered four interceptions, one of the am run back 94 yards for a touchdown by C.J. Christian.

Normal West 41, O’Fallon 7

Adriel Fussell rushed for 132 yards on 15 carries and scored two touchdowns as the Wildcats cruised to a shutout win over O’Fallon.

Armani Forrest also ran for two scores on 85 yards in three carries. Malik Tucker

Central Catholic 21, Prairie Central 6

Max Mowes completed 9 of 18 passes for 143 yards and one touchdown as the Saints built a 21-0 second quarter lead and held off the Hawks in the second half to win their home opener at Bill Hundman Memorial Field.

U-High 28, Decatur Eisenhower 20

Doug Holmes threw for 183 yards as the Pioneers earn their first win as new members of the Central State Eight.

Deer Creek-Mackinaw 54, Ridgeview-Lexington 22

In the Chiefs first home game since winning the Class 2A state title last November, Dee-Mack ran into some early trouble before pulling away to victory over the Mustangs. Levi Sherman scored two TDs for the Chiefs.

Tri-Valley 14, Eureka 7

A 1-yard touchdown run by Hunter Gawlik with 1:14 remaining led the Vikings to their first victory of the season over the Hornets. Gawkik scored both Vikings touchdowns.
