BLOOMINGTON – Expect delays as resurfacing work continues on Washington Street from Mercer Avenue to Veterans Parkway.
Later Wednesday, Washington Street will have new temporary pavement markings with a three-lane configuration instead of the former four-vehicle lanes. The new configuration includes one travel lane in each direction with a center two-way left turn lane from Mercer to St. Joseph Drive.
There will be new dedicated right turn lanes for eastbound Washington at Mercer and for westbound Washington at St. Joseph.
When the permanent pavement markings are installed in the next few days, there will also be dedicated bike lanes in each direction from Mercer to St. Joseph.
Motorists are encouraged to slow down in work zone and be attentive to changes in travel patterns.
For questions, call Bloomington Public Works at (309) 434-2225.
