WJBC Extravaganza: Late surge keeps Saints perfect with road win

ST. JOSEPH – Central Catholic scored 29 unanswered points during a second-half rally that was capped by a 55-yard interception return for a touchdown by Braden Glowacki in a 59-39 win at St. Joseph-Ogden on Friday.

Max Moews threw five touchdown passes completing 12 of 20 passes for 299 yards for the 3-0 Saints. He also connected on 7-for-7 extra-point attempts.

James Morris led the Saints with five receptions for 187 yards and two TDs. Sa’Mond Davis rushed for 173 and two touchdowns, including a 6-yard score with 9:38 to go in the fourth quarter that gave CCHS a 45-39 lead.

Normal Community 48, Peoria Notre Dame 22

Frankie West scored two touchdowns on special teams, one on a blocked punt and another on a 75-yard kickoff return as Normal Community (3-0) rolled to victory over Peoria Notre Dame at Ironmen Field.

Daylen Boddie passed for 98 yards and rushed for NCHS while Jalen Coleman caught two touchdowns and ran for a score.

Bloomington 56, Champaign Central 35

Holden Snyder rushed for 201 yards on 32 carries and scored four touchdowns as the Purple Raiders defeated Central at Fred Carlton Field. Colton Sandage completed 14 of 21 passes for 283 yards and three scores. BHS (2-1) scored touchdowns on six consecutive possessions in the second half.

Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin 41, U-High 7

Sam Sweetland threw for 368 yards on 22 of 33 passes and passed for four touchdowns as the Cyclones crushed U-High (1-2) in a Central State Eight matchup in Springfield. Doug Holmes threw for 145 yards, rushed for 45 yards and scored the Pioneers’ only touchdown.

Normal West 48, Champaign Centennial 7

CJ Lewis threw for 131 yards and Carson Camp racked up 110 passing yards as the Wildcats cruised to victory over the Chargers in Normal.

West (3-0) got 77 rushing yards on two carries from Armani Forrest, who ran for one score and had one touchdown receiving.
