Melissa A. Cromie, 27 of Bloomington, Ill., formerly of Saunemin, Ill., died Sunday Sept. 10, 2017 at 1:45 p.m. in Peoria, Ill.

A visitation will be held on Friday, Sept. 15 from 4-6 p.m. at Calvert & Martin Funeral Home, Pontiac, Ill. Cremation rites will follow the visitation. Memorials in Melissa’s name may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Melissa was born on February 4, 1990 in Quincy, Ill., a daughter of John and Charito (Tagaloguin) Cromie. They survive in Saunemin. Also surviving is one son: Ezekiel Moreland; one sister, Kathryn Marie Cromie of Pontiac; paternal grandfather, John Cromie of Quincy, Ill.; maternal grandmother: Nativida Mejorada Tagaloquin of the Philippines. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother and her maternal grandfather. Melissa attended Pontiac Township High School.

Marvin RothMarvin Roth

Marvin W. Roth, 82, of Fairbury, Ill. passed away at 8:55 a.m., Monday, Sept. 11, 2017 at Heritage Health, El Paso, Ill.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 15, 2017 at Gridley Cemetery with Pastor Ann Champion officiating.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Alzheimer’s Association or Dominy Memorial Library, Fairbury.

Marvin was born December 16, 1934 in Forrest, the son of Daniel and Carrie (Rieger) Roth. He was a graduate of Forrest-Strawn-Wing High School in 1952. He married Dorothy Cooper on July 3, 1954 in Fairbury. His wife, Dorothy survives in Fairbury.

Other survivors include his children, Terry (Sandy) Roth of Bremen, Ind.; David (Lisa) Roth of Metamora, Ill.; Susan Cottrell of Bloomington, Ill.; Scott Roth of Fairbury; son in-law, Duane Aberle of Fairbury; one brother, Leonard Roth of Forrest, Ill.; 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and three sisters and a daughter, Pamela Aberle.

Merle YoderMerle Yoder

Merle Wesley Yoder, 81, of Forrest, Ill. passed away on Sept. 11, 2017 at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Forrest with Rev. Corinne Blissard officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 15, 2017 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Forrest. Burial will follow services on Saturday, at Forrest Township Cemetery where full military rites will be accorded. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Forrest. Calvert & Martin Funeral Home in Forrest is handling arrangements for the family.

Merle was born Feb. 24, 1936 in Forrest a son of Wesley and Clara (Steidinger) Yoder. He served his country in the United States Air Force for five years. He was stationed in Fukuoka, Japan, where he met his wife Itsuko Okura and married her on July 25, 1958. She survives in Forrest, Ill.

Also surviving are his four sons: Rodney (Michael) of Boston, Mass., Roger (Yukako) of Mountain View, Calif., Ricky (Kristi) of Waverly, Ill., and Randy (Hollie) of Staunton, Ill.; and four grandchildren: Austin, Maya, Bridget, and Elise. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Ronald; four brothers, Joseph, Perry, Ray and Gene; and two sisters: Eleanor and Velma.

Merle was a lifelong farmer with a strong-rooted work ethic. He worked hard to provide for his family and support his children’s education. He was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, uncle, and friend who will be greatly missed.
