BLOOMINGTON – Police are investigating a fatal hit and run crash in southeast Bloomington.
The wreck happened about 11:30 Wednesday morning near the intersection of Morrissey Drive and Chrisman Lane.
When officers arrived, they found a woman dead in one of the vehicles, and a man with serious injuries.
Witnesses tell police they saw another vehicle leaving the scene, traveling north on Route 150, but police are not releasing a description of that vehicle.
McLean County Coroner Kathy Davis will release the victim’s name after relatives are notified. Davis has planned an autopsy for Thursday.
The injured man was taken to OSF St. Joseph Medical Center.
Police blocked off Morrissey, between Rhodes Lane and Woodrig Road, for about five hours while crash reconstructionists could investigate what happened.
The police department’s Criminal Investigations Division is conducting the investigation. Police are asking anyone with information to call Detective Tim Power at 309-434-2579 or McLean County Crime Stoppers at 309-828-111.
